“I want to create spaces that teem with life yet hold an inevitable stillness. Where color carries the emotive role and the property of the paint itself has both a quiet and powerful presence. And there is a sense of both careful consideration and abandon in the making. Where the surfaces feel permeable and open to wonder, longing and possibility. Where my memories rise up, edges breathe and there is room for the unexpected.” Sharon Kingston
Summer Moments series is devoted to celebrating the quiet excitement of our relationship to nature. Although I customarily use prose or poetry to inspire painting titles, this painting will be called “an enchanted solitude” which so precisely describes how I feel when I’m gardening.
